Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management
Overview
The Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management offers a list of industry relevant programmes covering culinary arts, pastry arts, tourism and hotel management. – with many more programmes to be developed in the future to meet the industry’s growing needs. Holding strongly to its tagline of ‘Real World Practice’, the syllabuses are structured to focus more on hands-on experience through usage of equipment, sharing of experience from industry-experienced lecturers and teaching method. In an effort to create high student experience, the faculty is equipped with industry standard equipment and facilities such as mock hotel rooms, reception, travel system and full functioning kitchens. Students will also get the opportunity to gain real-life experience on different business functions through the school’s own in-house cafe. The holistic teaching approach is widely acknowledged by the industry through various award-winning students.
PRACTICAL BASED LEARNING
- Focus on ‘Real World Practice’ though experiential learning – skills learnt are directly applicable to the working environment
- Facilities are fully equipped and well maintained with the relevant teaching equipment for students to learn such as the pastry kitchen, mock hotel reception, mock hotel room, mock housekeeping, café and ticketing lab
- Hands on experience in using the facilities, which is applicable for the real world. The in-house café is a good training ground for students as well as the mock up facilities that exudes the hotel environment
INDUSTRY EXPOSURE
- Exposed to well recognized competitions such as FHM competition, Asean Summit in Brunei and events like hosting an episode for Masterchef
- Field trips to well-known restaurants, hotels and food factories including Old Town White Café, Las Vacas, Chocolate Factory, Gardenia, Grand Dorsett, Legoland and more.
BROAD CAREER PATH
- Offer better employment opportunities as most of our graduates are able to position themselves in 5-star hotels and restaurants such as Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental, Traders and Troika SkyDining
- Programmes on offer also provide pathways to entrepreneurship. Some of our graduates have successfully run their own restaurants, such as Plan A in Bintulu, Thymes Café in Seri Kembangan and Eaters & The Cooks at the Tok Melaya Restaurant in Puchong.

Chef Adu Amran Hassan
- London-based Malaysian culinary expert/ author/ MasterChef Malaysia judge/ fashion enthusiast/ entrepreneur
- Established two (2) successful branches of restaurant name “Champor-Champor”
Chef Amer
- Highly experienced chef with training exposure from Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and Singapore
- Started chocolate production career with Fidani Chocolatier Sdn Bhd (largest hand-made chocolate production company in Malaysia)
- Created famous chocolate brand names for Danson, Farell’s & Fidani and developed chocolates for Van Houten, Famous Amos Malaysia and MAS
Zakaria Mohd Nani
- Currently the Deputy Director of Communication and Publicity Division of Tourism Malaysia
- Responsible for Malaysia Tourism News (published by Advertising & Publicity Division of Tourism Malaysia) which highlights news and product updates in the travel trade industry
